Michael Schuler
Founder & Partner Vice President, New Business Development, Musculoskeletal Transplant Foundation
In addition to his work at MTF, where he has served since 2002, and as a Founder and Partner of Tri-Medics® since 2000, Mr. Schuler sits on advisory boards for Vidar Systems, Inc., LumenR, LLCand Hemorodex, LLC. and works actively with Rutgers University on several of their industry advisory committees.
Prior to MTF, Mr. Schuler was an independent strategic planning and new business development consultant with major assignments including Olympus, USA and Tri-Medics, Inc., PNAVEL, Inc.and SurgiNex, Inc.
He served at Imagyn Medical Technologies (AMEX / NASDAQ) as President, Surgical Division (1997-1999), where he was responsible for consolidating three divisions. Other positions at Imagyn included President, Anesthesia/Critical Care Division and Executive Vice-President, New Business Development, where he was involved in many acquisitions.
Prior to Imagyn, Mr. Schuler was with Advanced Surgical, Inc. (NASDAQ) (1992-1996) where he started as a founder and Vice-President, Sales and Marketing. He took over as President and CEO of Advanced Surgical in 1994, and successfully led the company through growth, consolidation and merger.
Mr. Schuler spent the first eighteen (18) years of his medical career at Johnson & Johnson (NYSE), starting at Ethicon (1973-1987) where he held positions in Engineering, Management, Marketing and New business Development. He was instrumental in the creation of the Mechanical Wound Closure Division and in his New Business Development capacity was responsible for assessing and developing the Palmaz-Schatz Stent, technology that has revolutionized Interventional Cardiology and Radiology.
He played a key role in the formation and success of Johnson & Johnson Interventional Systems (1987-1992), the company that created the one billion-dollar plus Intraluminal Stent Market. His last position at Johnson & Johnson Interventional Systems was Vice President of Marketing, where he also served as a Managing Board Member.
Mr. Schuler has been awarded numerous patents. He was a part-time professor at the Rutgers University Graduate School from 1978-1993.
Mr. Schuler earned a B. S. in Industrial Engineering in 1971, an MBA in 1973, and an M. S., Engineering in 1974, all from branches of Rutgers University.
